Years ago I met some people who changed my life. Some call them hooligans and that's true as they're responsible for introducing me to motorcycles. Not just any kind of motorcycle but classic British bikes. Triumph, Norton, BSA... all beautiful, alluring and fascinating machines. I was inducted into the group with the purchase of a 1978 Triumph Bonnevile 750cc T140. That bike has soul and teeth rattling personality. I'll now ride until I can't physically get on a bike and do it anymore. I love the wind in my hair, sun on your skin, the gliding swooping control and the view of pavement rushing by mile after mile. I escorted this beautiful lady to the Arizona desert at dawn recently and had my camera with me. I hope you enjoy this motorcycle porn as much as I do.
Head For The Hills
Texas ranch roads 335, 336, 337 also know as the three sisters are three chip seal roads weaving across part of Texas hill country. These out of the way cheese grater roads (west of San Antonio) offer some of the best motorcycle riding in the State. Pro tips; stay in a town close like Leakey which sits right on 377, go in the spring to see the roads lined with colorful wildflowers, get on the roads early, on a weekday to avoid the droves of harley riders. Hold on, enjoy the ride and when the road signs say 15mph they mean 15mph!!
Head Hand Feet with Alton Gillespie
Alton is pinstripe artist. He's worked on everything from world class racing machines like the Norton Gulf Streamliner and the Blue Max Funny car to friends gas tanks and helmets. With steady hands that would rival any surgeon, Alton creates one of a kind pieces of art. Not only is he a world renowned pinstripe artist he is also a great story teller. When I first met him, in less than five minutes he was telling me about the time he got locked in a shop for days and slept in the racing bike there just to say he's slept in a motorcycle. Great work takes time and Alton is no exception. The wait is well worth it and watching him "slop on the paint" as he says was a fantastic experience and one you'll be hard pressed to find these days.
